Overview
For centuries, the vampires and the Renfield family have had a deal. The Renfield's offer up their first-born daughters and the vampires keep their family in wealth and power. This closed system allows the vampires to move through a world that might otherwise destroy them, in silence and secret.
On her 18th birthday, Mel Renfield will take part in the engagement ceremony and start to learn the vampire ways. If she refuses, her whole family will pay with their lives.
Lucas Mills is in the wrong place at the wrong time, and turned into a vampire whose sole purpose is to make sure Mel stays alive.
He doesn’t understand why she is suddenly so excited to step into her destiny. As future queen of the Vampires there will always be a target on her back. She will have no real power, but other covens would be happy to kill her to get to Henry and displace the Renfields.
