Overview
370 FANS SHARE CONCERT MEMORIES OF ONE OF THE GIANTS OF PROG ROCK
Welcome Back My Friends – A People’s History of Emerson, Lake & Palmer is an oral history of one of the giants of the British progressive rock world. As ELP, Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer had five Top Ten UK albums, including a No. 1 with 1971’s <1>Tarkus, and a UK No.2 single with 1977’s ‘Fanfare for The Common Man’. In the US, they had nine gold albums and globally they achieved an estimated 48 million album sales. Famed for the flamboyant stage antics of Emerson on the Hammond organ and Moog synthesiser, the golden voice of guitarist Lake and the powerhouse drumming of Palmer, ELP mixed elements of classical and jazz music with symphonic rock in a career in which they played around the world. With a foreword by Carl Palmer, contributions from Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) & Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous) & including images from the archive of acclaimed rock photographer Neal Preston, this is the ELP story in the words of over 370 fans as they remember 240 different concerts across a 40-year career.
