Transforming the Railways of Wales

After many years of operation with Arriva Trains Wales at the helm, May/June 2018 saw the issue of a new franchise to KeolisAmey. Their successful bid to run Wales and Borders Railways was based on an ambitious plan to deliver a sea change on that country’s railway network over the next five years or so. Their headline plans include: - Replacement of virtually all existing rolling stock over that period together with, not surprisingly, a complete new corporate identity. - The management of the South Wales Metro project through to delivery. (Keolis have experience in the UK with both Docklands in London and Manchester’s Trams). - Wide sweeping changes (improvements) to service frequency across the whole country with some new stations and routings planned. This book charts the KeolisAmey.Cymru story, from corporate vision on takeover to reality on delivery, with the shape of Welsh Railways transformed for the twenty-first century.
