Overview
In a city evacuated by humans after a cataclysmic event, the animals in a pet shelter must bravely venture out into a changed world... and make their way to a safer place. A thrilling adventure perfect for fans of Katherine Applegate, I Am Rebel, Kate DiCamillo, Last Kids on Earth, and Rosanne Parry.
Scamp and the other animals in the pet shelter are very used to their routine. Their human, Pam, takes good care of them. Every now and then, another human comes in -- although that hasn't happened in a while. All the strange things that happen... well, they happen Outside. None of the animals ever go Outside.
Then one day Pam doesn't come in the morning. Or the afternoon. Or the evening. Scamp realizes: the animals are now on their own. And in order to survive, they are going to have to go Outside and find a new safe place.
Thus starts a new adventure for Scamp (a dog), Patticakes (a rabbit), Daisy (a cat), and an assortment of other animals not used to being out in the wild -- or facing the beasts already there. It's a fur-raising, twist-and-turn filled journey -- where the threat of nature is only matched by its amazements.
