Overview
Leaving home is hard, especially when you don’t have a new one to go to. A child flees her home in Venezuela when soldiers come searching for her family and, with her mother, learns how to run to the next safe place. They trudge through the mud of the Darien Gap, jump aboard the side of a train in Mexico, and swim across the current of the Rio Bravo, all in search of safety. But when she finally finds a safe home in America, she finds that some do not view her kindly, and that she must now walk--not to find home, but to prove that she deserves one.
