  • Overview

Tiffany & Co. began as a modest stationery shop in 1837, when Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young opened a small New York establishment. By 1853, Tiffany took the reins, renamed the business and set it firmly on a glorious path toward diamonds and jewellery - and the world has sparkled ever since! Today, Tiffany & Co. is one of the most adored and prestigious names in couture and culture, valued at more than $13 billion, and adorned by idols and icons old and new.

The Little Guide to Tiffany shines bright with 180 dazzling facts that celebrate nearly two centuries of brilliance. A tiny tome as perfectly cut as a Tiffany diamond, as iconic as the Tiffany Blue Box - and roughly the same size... but a fraction of the cost!

    SAMPLE QUOTES

"Beautiful design makes a beautiful life." - Charles Lewis Tiffany, tiffany.com, 1882

"I don't want to own anything until I find a place where me and things go together. I'm not sure where that is but I know what it is like. It's like Tiffany's." - Holly Golightly, Breakfast at Tiffany's, 1961.

    SAMPLE FACT

Tiffany's iconic robin's-egg blue is one of the most recognisable brand colours in the world. Inspired by a portrait of Empress Eugénie de Montijo - a 19th-century fashion icon - Charles Lewis Tiffany chose the same elegant shade for the company's boxes and bags. The colour later became Pantone 1837, named after Tiffany's founding year, and remains a protected trademark. Paired with the refined Tiffany typeface - a serif font created by Ed Benguiat - the Blue Box that all diamonds were sold in soon became the ultimate symbol of luxury and desire.
