Overview
As lead guitarist and songwriter for Thin Lizzy, Scott Gorham is one of the true legends of classic rock. Alongside his best friend, charismatic band leader Philip Lynott, Gorham blazed a revolutionary trail across global stadiums and arenas, inspiring audiences around the world. His quicksilver guitar solos on the likes of ‘Dancing In The Moonlight’, ‘Waiting For An Alibi’ and the immortal ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’ provided a soundtrack for rock fans throughout the seventies and beyond.
But success came with a price. When Thin Lizzy were at the height of their powers, behind the scenes Gorham and Lynott were rapidly succumbing to the worst excesses of the rock’n’roll lifestyle, as alcoholism and heroin addiction threatened to destroy them. In the end, only one made it through to the other side.
The Guy on the Left is Scott Gorham’s own account of that memorable journey. From a happy, if tumultuous childhood in fifties California to success and stardom with Thin Lizzy, Gorham’s story is one of soaring highs and crushing lows, leading to his now unassailable position as one of rock music’s true greats.
Drawn from numerous interviews with rock biographer Martin Power and told from Scott’s own perspective, The Guy on the Left is further supported by personal contributions from Scott’s wife Christine Gorham, legendary Thin Lizzy cover artist Jim Fitzpatrick and Gorham’s manager Adam Parsons. The book also contains dozens of unseen photographs from Scott’s personal collection.
