Overview
The Glubb Reports studies the papers written by General Sir John Glubb, the long-serving British commander of the Jordanian Arab Legion. During his career in Iraq and Jordan, Glubb wrote a considerable number of documents that are of great historical interest. This book uses these reports to explain Glubb's views on some of the most significant historical developments in the Middle East during the mid-20th century. These include Glubb's notable contribution to desert control in Iraq and Jordan, which led to the control of the tribal population and their incorporation into the state, as well as the issue of Palestine. Glubb played an important role in the development of the most effective army in the Middle East and was a central figure in the first Arab-Israeli war, and this book looks at Glubb's views on military and political issues that are still of serious interest to scholars today.
