With each story, Jaime Sakäsmä creates a narrative kaleidoscope of the tensions that shape a deeply traditional, patriarchal community: homophobia, power dynamics, domestic violence, rigid gender roles, and repressed desire. This is a book that is as unsettling as it is powerful.
