Sotavento / Leeward tells the story of a dying world and of a generation that must create its own ways of being—or face the death of the world as they know it.

In this fictional narrative, which closely parallels our current reality, Rebeca Stones imagines an island, Veira, on the verge of extinction due to an unprecedented ecological crisis. Its young ruler must cast aside everything they’ve learned—including their predecessor’s legacy—and rise to the challenge of saving their people. Along the way, as in the greatest tragedies, they will come to know themselves and discover true love—a love that often mirrors the essence of who we truly are.
