As the first snow falls, Sea Harbor, Massachusetts, is a winter wonderland, especially with a new ice-skating rink for residents and tourists to enjoy. But as the Seaside Knitters discover, it’s also a season for deadly secrets . . .

Winter in Sea Harbor evokes piles of colorful wool beside warm fires, just waiting to be fashioned into hats and sweaters and scarves—but first, the Seaside Knitters join friends and neighbors for the official opening of the town’s exciting new addition: a first-class outdoor skating rink, complete with a warming cabin, cider, hot chocolate, and donuts!

Various locals are involved in the enterprise, including Julia Euclid, who helps manage the nonprofit funding the rink. The Seaside Knitters know Julia well, and her calm efficiency is generally admired—even if she seems to rankle pricklier folks like Mayor Beatrice Scaglia, who’s determined to make the rink the crowning jewel of her campaign for the prestigious Governor’s Award.

But the festive mood takes a dark turn when Julia is found lying dead in the snow near the rink later that night, gunned down in cold blood. Hoping to find justice for their friend, Nell, Izzy, Cass, and Birdie begin to pull at the threads of her private life . . . where unexpected betrayals and long-held secrets begin piling up like the deepening snow.
