  • Overview

Completed shortly before Levene's death in November 2022, POPTOME is the tale of one of the most remarkable bands in history. It was the final time Keith Levene opened up about his musical adventures and the controversies and speculation surrounding his time in the classic era of Public Image Ltd.

POPTOME was compiled over three years with his good friend and business partner Adam Hammond. Going over these memories was no easy task for Keith as he had been haunted by the break-up of Public Image Ltd. Over many, many interviews, Hammond saw him laugh and cry, scream with anger and frustration. And Levene got back in touch with people he hadn't spoken to for decades.

The book features contributions from the legendary manager of The Clash, Bernard Rhodes, as well as former PiL bandmates Jah Wobble, Martin Atkins, Richard Dudanski, David Humphrey and Pete Jones. There are the musings of the band's US manager Bob Tulipan, their photographer Maureen Baker, US producer Bob Miller, and producer, engineer and friend, Nick Launay.

A music memoir like no other.
