As a small Eastern European country teeters on the edge of Russian annexation, its leaders are quietly selling out, preparing to trade the nation’s sovereignty in exchange for continued power in a new puppet state. One voice, however, refuses to trust the official assurances that Russia will not invade: Revekah Cojocaru, a Romanian immigrant with a suspicious lack of political experience. Under her influence, annexation protests spread across the nation like wildfire. The meteoric rise of an unknown activist raises questions: who is really behind this movement? Soon Revekah finds herself imprisoned, the target of false charges and a brutal interrogation. Her followers face a similar fate as the government redefines freedom of expression into felony.

While the government works to erase Revekah and dismantle her movement, her sister, Dacia, enters the fight. A reclusive software engineer with ties to Silicon Valley, she mixes ruthless logic with dangerous friendships, launching a scorched earth campaign of government data breaches to force her sister’s release. Considering only the prospect of Revekah's rescue, Dacia unwittingly sparks city-wide riots on a national scale with her exposure of government treason.

As politicians scramble to maintain control, the country hurtles toward civil war—with the fate of both sisters as well as the nation hanging in the balance.
