The 18 ships of the Ohio-class are split between two variants; There are 14 nuclear-warhead-carrying fleet ballistic missile submarines (SSBN) and 4 guided missile submarines (SSGN), the latter having been converted from SSBN to carry Tomahawk missiles and special operators into action.
