Overview
Ambrogio Folonari is acknowledged as the undisputed father of the renaissance of Italian winemaking. He has devoted his entire life to the pursuit of excellence and transformed wine tasting and created Supertuscan wines that have won the world over. Ambrogio has educated and enhanced palates, elevating wine drinking culture with wisdom and moderation, and thereby creating a legacy of innovation, creativity, research and respect for the land. As the leader of Chianti Ruffino in Pontassieve, he chose Tuscany as his preferred terrain, producing iconic wines that blend tradition with contemporary tastes. During the 1970s and 1980s, he was responsible for a pivotal moment in the industry. Red wines, classified as table wines, made a resurgence and were able to showcase the unique characteristics of a terroir with a millennial history. The birth of Cabreo in 1982, a highly qualified wine, was the pinnacle of the oenological research conducted by its creator. Cabreo quickly became the emblem and flagship of the family business, drawing the attention of industry professionals and, above all, critics. It’ s the wine to which Ambrogio most affectionately ties his name.
