In the uncertain times during the Civil War in the 1860s, four sisters couldn't be more different: on the one hand, Meg, who likes to do things rationally and sensibly; on the other, Jo, a nonconformist and with ambitions as a writer; then Beth, who lovingly tries to keep the family together, and Amy, a youngest who sometimes gives herself too much importance and exaggerates her social class a little. While the father fights in the war, the four girls learn to fend for themselves with their mother's support and discover that it is not always easy for young women to conquer a place in the world. But despite the many obstacles, the sisters learn to make their way and, each in their own way, become adults and independent.
