  • Overview

Re/Dress NYC was a much beloved plus size vintage + resale store in Brooklyn NY that sat at the intersection of blooming body positivity, fat liberation, queer joy and community. Re/Dress NYC offered a unique and supportive shopping experience in the fashion capital of the world that neglected an entire segment of people. The 3000 square foot store had the largest collection of plus size vintage clothing ever found in one place, a robust buy, sell, trade business which allowed for an accessible shopping experience as well as a feeling of parity with smaller young fashion forward people who had multiple stores like Buffalo Exchange and Beacon's Closet to enjoy. Re/Dress NYC also created indie designer fashion and trunk shows to help designers get their lines direct to shoppers before there was a real online shopping presence and also to connect with a sense of fun and joy for shopping which has been elusive for plus size people. The store and it's shopgirls created a real sense of home and comfort, besides selling clothing, Re/Dress NYC hosted book readings, fundraisers, performances, dance parties and more. It was a place to be seen and now it's a place to be commemorated with a book.
