Overview
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
My Name Is Red is a historical novel with a detective plot—a kaleidoscopic journey through the borderlands between art, religion, love, sex, and power.
The Sultan has commissioned the most renowned artists in the empire to create a magnificent book celebrating the glories of his reign. Their task: to illuminate the work European style. But because figurative art can be considered offensive to Islam, the project quickly becomes a dangerous proposition. The ruling elite must not learn of the book’s scope or nature—and panic spreads when one of the miniaturists disappears. The only clue to solving the mystery—perhaps even a murder—lies hidden within the unfinished illustrations.
