Based on the A Natural History of Mermaids book from the popular Folklore Field Guides series, the cards feature naturalist illustrations of mermaid species from different regions of the
world, from the Caribbean Queen to the Southern Wayfarer, and the Reef Angel to the Pacific Wanderer. The booklet, in addition to explaining how to play the game, serves as a guide to the mermaid species on the cards, with details on their habitats, dwellings, distinctive features and habits.
