    Where Questions Lead to Clarity

Feeling left out is something almost every student experiences at some point, and it can hurt more than most people realize. Whether it happens on the playground, in the cafeteria, in a group chat, or at a lunch table, the sting of exclusion can affect how students see themselves, how they engage in school, and how willing they are to try again. When students don't have the language or support to process these experiences, the impact can reach far beyond a single moment.

The Let's Get Curious: Building Belonging Card Deck is a scenario-based card deck that helps students build awareness and understanding around exclusion and belonging, noticing how it feels to be on the outside, exploring what gets in the way of connection, and discovering what it means to actively create belonging for themselves and others.

Each card presents a short, student-centered scenario followed by a discussion question. On the back of the card, three additional questions deepen thinking around social awareness, empathy, connection, and the role each student plays in building a more inclusive environment. Cards rotate between three icons, In or Out?, What Gets in the Way, and Building Belonging, to support balanced conversation and sustained engagement.

This deck can be used flexibly in classrooms, counseling settings, or small groups to support students in developing the confidence, empathy, and social awareness they need to navigate one of the most universal challenges of growing up.
