  • Overview

    ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

A portrait of passion pushed to the limit.

Monday morning, stuck in traffic on the way to work. With a sudden brake, the protagonist crashes his car into the one ahead. Seconds later, a hysterical executive storms out and insults him, after which he makes the decision of his life: to devote himself entirely to the moral annihilation of that woman. Thus, besides entertaining his boredom, his gray existence will finally have a purpose. But he does not expect that the object of his hatred has a fifteen-year-old sister, Rosana, a teenager who will awaken in him a weakness as embarrassing as it is unexpected.

La flaqueza del bolchevique would be an absolutely comic novel if not for the disturbing tone it acquires as the protagonist’s schemes grow more complicated. With agile rhythm, Lorenzo Silva delivers a story that straddles comedy, intrigue, and melodrama. Perhaps its greatest achievement is the portrayal of Rosana, a nymphet unlike any other, who unsettles even the most indifferent reader.
