Overview
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
Happiness: Is it a state of mind or something we search for?
This book advocates for the second, arguing that human beings must work actively to eliminate the obstacles to happiness, beginning with selfish concerns such as envy, fear and awareness of sin. At the same time, they must strengthen the drives that lead them to look outside themselves, that invite them to feel part of the flow of life. “The more things a man is interested in, the more opportunities for happiness he has,” Betrand Russell maintains “Such a man feels himself a citizen of the universe, enjoying freely the spectacle that it offers and the joy that it affords.” Ultimately, this is a self-help book, rooted in stoicism and a reconceiving of human beings and their place in the world.
