  • Overview

Two cultural disruptors join forces in this joyful, crashing wakeup call to actualize a shared vision of our world.
Thurston Moore and John Kinsella have been making poems together for years. They use a variety of compositional techniques, ranging through weaving, mash-up, bricolage, mixes and remixes of each other's voices, shout-outs, noise, line exchanges, and “run-sheeting” in open and closed forms. And they coin a few words and phrases along the way.

Joystick Reverie is a collaborative collection of 24 new poems, along with images plus a sound realization of one of the poems by Moore. It is the first co-authored work by Kinsella and Moore to be released by an American publisher—their chapbook, A Remarkable Grey Horse (2014), was published in Canada, and their collection The Weave (2020) was released in Australia.

Within Joystick’s pages, the viewer and listener will encounter sound experiments, destabilizing diatribes, hot graffiti, and chilled climaxes. A radical work of rearrangement, it questions how we can find our way through the malaise of conservatism and how we might counter oppression. All of this through the matrix of poetry as sonic and visual disruption.
