Overview
This monograph is devoted to Joël Faivre-Chalon (1953–2020), French creator of contemporary jewelry. His pieces are the fruit of patient research conducted into form, technique, and materials. Text in English and French.
This monograph is devoted to Joël Faivre-Chalon (1953–2020), French creator of contemporary jewelry. Trained in Strasbourg and subsequently based in Montpellier, Joël Faivre-Chalon never viewed jewelry as mere ornament: his pieces are the fruit of patient research conducted into form (which, in his hands, tends to be pared down), technique, and materials. His work can be imagined in two broad phases: the first devoted to experiments with color, followed by a second focused on studying volume, drawing on innovative materials such as titanium, slate, laminate, or carbon fiber.
