Overview
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
His father, the famous Admiral James Dawner, has placed great expectations on him, but John is the complete opposite of what one would expect: rebellious, chaotic, and wild. He feels that he doesn't belong in the naval service nor in his family, and he’s right.
He’s not interested in fighting the pirates who terrorize the pristine turquoise waters of the Caribbean; in fact, he feels mysteriously drawn to their way of life. Very soon, destiny comes knocking: the fierce attack on the port by buccaneers led by Captain Desmond Black makes John feel compelled to fight for his city. Amid cannon fire and clashing swords, his father, on the brink of death, confesses his dark secret.
This revelation leads John on a long journey among pirates, love interests, and thieveries, to find himself on the high seas. But Johnny Blackdawn is also the story of the unpredictable Desmond Black and his enemy Blackbeard; of the beautiful Margaret Tanner, the liberal Jill Jones, and the noble Spaniard María Aragón, three women whose lives find meaning in piracy; in short, the story of a revolutionary community full of fascinating characters whose actions challenged maritime trade in the New World.
