John Locke (Champion of Democracy)

Many historians date the beginning of the Age of Enlightenment with the publication of Locke’s An Essay Concerning Human Understanding, which ultimately influenced the writings of the more celebrated thinkers who wrote at the height of the Enlightenment fifty years later. Locke’s writings would also be considered the major influence on the American Revolution and modern democracy, more so than the work of any other philosopher. This book examines his life and his times, and analyzes the work of one of the most significant philosophers since ancient Greece.
