Today, whenever someone seeks to point the finger at those who have led us to the dead end we now find ourselves in, they are the usual suspects.

And it's true, the haters are right: the “children of optimism” destroyed the industrial economy. But not because they were lazy or irresponsible, but precisely because they fulfilled their mandate: they rose up as "the most prepared generation in history" and undertook an unprecedented transformation. In fact, they ushered in a new world in which the coordinates of the previous world no longer work.
