Overview
Lenguaje claro y accesibilidad comunicativa mantienen estrechos vínculos.
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
Against the opacity of regulations that affect citizens in all aspects of their lives, an international movement has emerged under the banner of "plain language," advocating a new right: the right to understand.
The Royal Spanish Academy and the ASALE academies safeguard the correctness and expressive power of the Spanish language. They strive for a language that enables successful communication across all contexts—from family conversations to scientific or humanistic treaties, from a simple request to a law or a court ruling.
"Be coherent," "Be truthful," "Be courteous," "Be clear"—these are principles of proper language use that function as imperatives. Adhering to or violating these maxims determines the success or failure of communication.
Plain language and communicative accessibility are closely intertwined. Both concepts share a common goal: to resolve comprehension issues in messages.
This guide aims for transparency, conciseness, clarity, and usability—explaining plain language with plain language.
