  • Overview

Carl Sandburg’s brief, classic poem personifying fog as a cat is here rendered by Zack Rock as a giant but friendly feline. As it prowls across the Golden Gate Bridge and through San Francisco, the cat engages in typical catlike behaviors, seemingly impervious to anyone or anything—as cats and fog are wont to do. American poet Carl Sandburg (1878–1967) was perhaps best known for his free-verse style reminiscent of Walt Whitman and for his monumental biography of Abraham Lincoln. After moving to Chicago in the 1910s, he began publishing the poetry collections that would make him famous and later branched out into collections of American folklore and children’s books.Berlin-based illustrator and writer Zack Rock has created two other picture books for Creative Editions, Homer Henry Hudson’s Curio Museum and A Good Story. His work has garnered awards and attention from publications and collections worldwide.
