Overview
During two decisive years of his life, 1932 and 1933, the brilliant philosopher Walter Benjamin found himself on the island of Ibiza. As his precarious economic situation and lack of professional prospects overwhelmed him, the ascension of Nazism and the economic collapse caused him to leave Germany behind forever. During this period, he quickly wrote some of his most lucid and brilliant works. This book seeks to outline the reasons he went to Ibiza and describe his days there.
