  • Overview

    ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Two women. One mission: to prevent the Nazis from stealing and destroying priceless works of art.

Siblings Sophie and Dietrich fled their home in Germany to escape the Nazi regime. When Paris—the city they escaped to—falls under German control, Dietrich is killed for his involvement in the resistance. Grieving her brother’s death and alone in a city she once considered safe, Sophie is forced to take a job as an art restorer at the Musée Jeu de Paume, now overseen by the German art commission, which uses the space to store artwork confiscated from Jewish families.

Dietrich’s wife, Fabienne Brandt, was a rising painter until the Nazis deemed her work “degenerate” and began persecuting her. Still mourning her husband and the abrupt halt of her career, Fabienne isolates herself in her home—until Sophie, her sister-in-law, arrives with a stolen painting.

Soon, the two women set out on a daring mission to rescue the paintings the Third Reich seeks to erase: they work under the noses of Germany’s top art experts to replace the museum’s masterpieces with flawless forgeries. But how long can Sophie and Fabienne keep up their brilliant deception?
