On April 2nd, 2007, her ex-boyfriend stabbed her twenty-seven times right on the street.

When she woke up from the coma, she had been reborn.

This story begins in shadows and progresses due to coping, optimism, and inspiration. Emma Larreta tells her life story, with her rights and wrongs, but most of all, she tells the story of how everything changed that day, when her life was hanging by a thread.

After that episode, and while recovering from sequels that caused her permanent disability, she began a successful career as activist, raising social awareness. She gave herself the task to put a face to violence, and through her workshops lead youths to reflect upon and overcome this world scourge. Today, 17 years later, she has become a reference in Spain.

Her goal is to prove that in order to defend ourselves from violence we must have the right tools and knowledge. With optimism, humor, and plenty of hope, A Map of My Scars is a raw and brave story, the necessary testimony of a woman who chose to live and not hide a single one of her scars.
