Originally published in 1957, this was the first biography and full account of Eduard Mörike’s works to appear in English. One of the greatest German lyric poets, Mörike is, according to some critics equal to Goethe as a lyricist. This book was the first attempt to analyse Mörike’s highly suggestive drawings, some of which are reproduced in the book.
