    Die Südkirche, am Hang oberhalb der Esslinger Pliensau-Vorstadt gelegen, ist sicher das kunsthistorisch interessanteste Bauwerk der Stadt aus dem 20. Jahrhundert. Als städtebauliches Gegenstück zur gotischen Frauenkirche auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite des Neckartals wurde sie von Martin Elsaesser entworfen und 1925/26 errichtet.
