Overview
Die Dorfkirche Paretz nimmt einen dauerhaften Platz in der Architekturgeschichte ein. Ist sie doch einerseits einer der ganz wichtigen Marksteine der in ihrer Geschlossenheit einmaligen frühklassizistischen Dorf- und Schlossanlage Paretz, so stellt sie zum anderen als eine der ersten neogotischen Kirchen in Deutschland zugleich ein herausragendes Einzeldenkmal dar. Ihre geschichtliche Bedeutung verdankt sie der regelmäßigen Präsenz der preußischen Könige Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1770–1840) und Friedrich Wilhelm IV. (1795–1861) im Zeitraum 1797 bis 1861, vor allem aber der von Königin Luise von Preußen (1776–1810), welche die Kirche während ihrer spätsommerlichen Aufenthalte von 1797 bis 1805 regelmäßig aufsuchte.
