Overview
Ein prachtvolles Beispiel norddeutscher Backsteinarchitektur ist der die Silhouette der Stadt weithin überragende Dom zu Schwerin. Der 1416 als Nachfolger eines romanischen Vorbaus vollendete Kirchenbau beeindruckt durch seine lichte Weite im Inneren. 1948 erhielt er sein bedeutendstes Ausstattungsstück, den 1495 von Conrad Loste geschaffenen und gestifteten Kreuzaltar, aus dem Museum zurück. Das älteste Ausstattungsstück des Domes ist die Bronzetaufe von 1325, die mit Figurenreliefs reich verziert ist.
