Overview
Als zentraler Repräsentationsbau des Kaisers Wilhelm II. wurde der im neobarocken Stil erbaute Berliner Dom 1905 mit großem Aufwand eingeweiht. Mit seinen gewaltigen Ausmaßen stand er in der Kritik der Bevölkerung und wurde nach der Beschädigung im Zweiten Weltkrieg in etwas reduzierter Gesamthöhe und mit flacherer Kuppel wieder aufgebaut. Unterhalb der Kirche befindet sich die bedeutsame Hohenzollerngruft, die mit 100 Särgen eine Dokumentation des Hauses Hohenzollern, Brandenburg-Preußens und des Deutschen Kaiserreiches darstellt.
