Overview
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
Guillermo Cabrera Infante’s passionate fictionalized memoir, recreating all the vibrancy of his younger years in Cuba.
In a memoir he began right after being exiled from Cuba, Guillermo Cabrera Infante details his youth on the fizzing island in the late fifties and early sixties. Havana, movies, sex, music, the coming of the Revolution, it all coexists in a story with joyful backgrounds, even if tainted by the pain of such remoteness. An incomplete project up to the author’s death, and somewhat endless, Heavenly Bodies retakes the key subjects in Cabrera Infante’s work, adding the testimonial earnestness of someone aiming to remember so his private world doesn’t fall into oblivion.
