Overview
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
A large selection of the best stories by Camilo José Cela, covering his entire career.
Cela’s famous novels outshined his short stories, which he never stopped writing.
He repeatedly declared his devotion to this literary genre, which he claimed was “something like the prose writer’s touchstone.” However, it is not always easy to define, within the vast array of Cela’s brief pieces, which ones can be properly considered short stories.
This volume offers a wide selection of the texts that best fit this label, including those that he himself baptized as “carpetovetonic notes.” All of them make up a portentous gallery of characters, which Cela builds with his characteristic blend of humor, savagery, and piety.
