Overview
* Beautiful, accurate, watercolor drawings of Colorado wildflowers
* The first guidebook specific to the Montane Zone between 8,000 and 10,000 feet
* A combination of wildflowers, art, and plant identification
During the late spring, summer, and early fall, Ann Kurz Chambers lives on thirty-five acres that she owns in the mountains of western Colorado. Over the past ten years she has identified more than 155 wildflowers on her property and painted them in watercolors for this book.
For clarity, each plant is identified by genus and species followed by the common name or names that the flower is known by in Colorado. A complete set of field notes includes details such as a description of the flower, the location where it was found, the physical characteristics of the plant, when the flower bloomed, and what the plant's fruit, if any, looks like. There is also a detailed drawing of the property and a moisture map with typical plant locations identified.
