Overview
Ichiban Michizawa was given his name, meaning “number one,” in the hopes that he would excel at everything he did. It was a lofty goal to live up to, but he has succeeded in living “like a man” and building a highly successful life. After two years dating his girlfriend, he is ready to build the next part of his life and propose—but Chinagi reveals that she does not love him the way he does her. She’s very fond of him, but she is aromantic and asexual, experiencing neither romantic nor sexual attraction, and she’s wrestled with this side of herself—and the obstacle it presents to a “normal” life—for many years. Ichiban cannot let go of his feelings so easily, while Chinagi longs to be “normal.” If a mutual romance is impossible for them, what form might their love take instead?
