Overview
The art nouveau movement spanned the final decade of the 19th century and the first decade or so of the 20th. Inspired by natural forms, it applied an artistic sensibility to houses, interior design, furniture, textiles, jewelry, and graphic art. Some of the intricate and romantic images in this coloring book were in fact created to sell products such as diverse as perfume, biscuits, bicycles, and beer. Others were designed for wallpaper or fabrics or as stained glass panels. Some of the most exquisite designs are those by Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) whose style came to characterize art nouveau graphic art. With more than 45 designs in color, each with a facing line art image, you should be able to explore the world of art nouveau in detail.
