  • Overview

    Llega a Poesía Portátil los versos de Antonio Machado, poeta emblemático de la generación del 98.

    Antonio Machado fue el miembro más joven de la generación del 98, un grupo de intelectuales muy identificado con las tierras castellanas. La publicación de Soledades en 1903 lo reveló como poeta extraordinario y el éxito de su obra maestra, Campos de Castilla, le situó como uno de los poetas más relevantes del país. Esta selección contiene algunos de sus versos más emblemáticos, influenciados por la lírica popular y conjunción de una extrema sobriedad y sencillez formal con la emoción más sincera y humana. En esta antología destacan sus poemas dedicados a un paisaje que linda con el sueño y el amor.

    «Los olivos grises,
    los caminos blancos.
    El sol ha sorbido
    la color del campo;
    y hasta tu recuerdo
    me lo va secando
    este alma de polvo
    de los días malos.»

    ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

    "The verses of Antonio Machado, emblematic poet of the generation of ‘98, arrive to Portable Poetry.

    Antonio Machado was the youngest member of the generation of ‘98, a group of intellectuals very identified with the Castilian lands. The publication of Soledades in 1903 revealed him as an extraordinary poet and the success of his masterpiece, Campos de Castilla, made him one of the most relevant poets in the country. This selection contains some of his most emblematic verses, influenced by popular lyrics and a combination of extreme sobriety and formal simplicity with the most sincere and human emotion. The poems that stand out in this anthology, are those dedicated to a landscape that borders on dreams and love.

    ‘The gray olive trees,
    the white roads.
    The sun has sucked
    the color from the field;
    and even your memory
    it is drying it for me
    this soul of the dust
    of bad days.’”
