Antonio Machado was the youngest member of the generation of ‘98, a group of intellectuals very identified with the Castilian lands. The publication of Soledades in 1903 revealed him as an extraordinary poet and the success of his masterpiece, Campos de Castilla, made him one of the most relevant poets in the country. This selection contains some of his most emblematic verses, influenced by popular lyrics and a combination of extreme sobriety and formal simplicity with the most sincere and human emotion. The poems that stand out in this anthology, are those dedicated to a landscape that borders on dreams and love.
