    Andrew Murray nació el 9 de mayo de 1828 en Graaff-Reinet, El Cabo, Sudáfrica. Su padre era pastor vinculado a la Iglesia Presbiteriana de Escocia.      Andrew Murray was born on May 9, 1828, in Graaff-Reinet, Cape Town, South Africa. His father was a minister associated with the Presbyterian Church of Scotland. As a child, he witnessed his father's fervent prayers for revival, frequently reading stories of revivals of the Holy Spirit to his family. His prayers were answered in 1861 when a powerful spiritual movement swept through his congregation.

    Young Murray grew up delighting in the Word of God. He became a preacher at 17 and was ordained to the ministry in the Dutch Reformed Church when he was only 20. His ministry was so spiritually blessed that he quickly gained notoriety and rose to positions of responsibility and leadership.

    A fervent evangelist, he dedicated his entire life to reaching the most forgotten populations, such as the African tribes of the interior. On more than one occasion, he risked his life to spread the Christian message. The author of more than 250 books, he emphasized complete and absolute consecration to God, prayer, and holiness. Readers will find these themes interwoven in many of the meditations in this collection. During the last 28 years of his life, he was considered the father of the Keswick Movement in South Africa.
