Overview
Ambient intelligence (AmI) refers to environments that are sensitive, adaptive, and responsive to human presence and needs. By weaving AI, sensors, energy-harvesting technologies and computing into everyday surroundings, AmI systems act proactively, rather than waiting for commands, to make spaces like homes and workplaces more efficient and user-centric. By anticipating our needs, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), and capturing and processing data through sensors, processors, and actuators, which are unobtrusively embedded throughout the environment, ambient systems provide seamless, connected, and uninterrupted everyday experiences that require minimal user intervention.
6G systems must be designed to meet these demands, providing seamless access to intelligent features from any point within the networks. But achieving Aml requires maintaining specific quality of service standards to meet key performance indicators such as latency, data rate, reliability, and availability. This edited book addresses the challenges of effectively integrating Aml into 6G networks, as well as emerging and recent developments, advances, and future directions.
Researchers from academia and industry working in communication engineering, sensing and embedded systems, with a focus on 5G/6G, and Aml, will find this reference most useful. It will also be of interest as recommended reading to lecturers and postgraduate students in wireless communication, sensing, electronics and computer science.
