Overview
Enjoy in the rich beauty of the natural world with this delightful coloring book, with artworks based on the classic botanical illustrations by 17th century artist Alexander Marshal, published in association with The Royal Collection.
For Alexander Marshal (c.1620-82), the cultivation of rare plants was essential to the study of the natural world. His interest was stimulated by specimens imported to England from the Near East and the New World in the 17th century. Marshal was not a professional artist, but his florilegium - the only English flower book to survive from the period - contains some of the most beautiful plant studies in botanical art.
The 44 illustrations in this coloring book are from Marshal's florilegium, taken from the private art collection of the British royal family, The Royal Collection . These full-color plates are shown beside black and white versions to fill with color.
Features:
• Thick, high-quality paper to prevent bleed-through
• A key of full-color, thumbnail images to preview the designs
• Full-page prints of original full-color artwork to display
ABOUT THE SERIES: The Sirius Classic Nature Coloring series includes archival illustrations by some of history's most acclaimed naturalists, including Audubon, Pierre-Joseph Redoute and William Lizars. These original full-color illustrations are presented beside the black and white designs for reference and inspiration.
