Adorations

A new collection by an established Swedish poet, known for his degraded and melancholic verse.

Görranson’s latest collection, Adorations, is in constant motion. A mother’s body is transformed through cancer, a man becomes a bird, a child is born addicted, a bullet is fired, a riot convulses society. The causes for these transformations—drugs, metaphors, arson, money—range from chemical to performative. 

Whether the poems are elegies, nature poems, or love songs, the violence that runs through them is elemental. It breaks things down into particles or transforms them through mimicry and devouring. Flowers, style, kissing, spells: all these elements make up a collection filled with a rich and intense language that cannot sit still.
