Overview
The Yellow River experienced many major floods in the past. The Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC) of the Ministry of Water Resources constructed a number of reservoirs for flood control and water management. The operation of the multi-reservoir system requires adaptive management procedures to deal with changing reservoir storage conditions and effects of climate change.
New software tools were explored in this thesis and a robust algorithm was developed to deal with multi-valued storage-release relations. Also, appropriate software architectures were explored combining model-based simulation systems with a data-centered approach. Case study applications show that such approach is feasible for developing the next generation software systems for adaptive management and decision support of complex river systems.
